Apprentice Program

A BIG STEP IN THE PROFESSIONAL CAREER DIRECTION
The "Big Step" Program is one of the few professional apprenticeship programs in the US providing an invaluable experience for young dancers wh o are pursuing a professional dance career. While basic technique is learned in the classroom over a 10-year period, dancers who aspire to a professional career find that their technical and artistic development depends to a great extent on working with experienced dancers and choreographers. This not only helps them to develop skills, but also to understand production values, operational procedures and the business challeges of a professional dance company.

WHAT TO EXPECT
The training program is rigorous and offers a broad spectrum of dance. This meticulous work and commitment to diversity is necessary to ensure the proper transition from student to professional. Highly regarded by both students and professionals, the Charleston Ballet’s Apprenticeship Program includes:
  • Classes In Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Modern, Partnering and Music for 8 Hours Per Day Over a 40+ Week Period.
  • Choreography Composition, Costuming and Stage Make-Up.
